About GEU
Graphic Era (Deemed to be University) was founded in 1993 by Prof. (Dr.) Kamal Ghanshala, who started with just ₹29,000 and a dream to transform higher education in the Doon Valley. Beginning as Graphic Era Computer Centre, it became Graphic Era Institute of Technology (GEIT) in 1997 — the first self-financed engineering institute in North India. It was accorded Deemed University status in August 2008 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956. Nestled in the central part of scenic Dehradun, bordered by Rajaji National Park and Clement Town Cantonment, the campus offers world-class infrastructure including smart lecture theatres, state-of-the-art libraries, high-speed Wi-Fi, indoor and outdoor auditoriums, sports facilities, gymnasiums, and multiple cafeterias. In August 2022, GEU was granted NAAC 'A+' grade (having held NAAC 'A' grade since 2015). In December 2022, GEU became the only university in the region with 7 NBA-accredited programs: CSE, Electrical, Civil, ECE, Mechanical Engineering, Biotechnology, and MBA. In NIRF 2025, the university was ranked 48th in the University Category, 52nd in Engineering, 52nd in Management, and 72nd Overall — firmly placing it among the Top 50 Universities in India. GEU has 50,000+ alumni working at marquee brands like Apple, Google, Microsoft, and HSBC, and in all wings of the Indian Armed Forces. The university has industry partnerships with Tata Technologies, TCS, Adobe, Bentley Software, Sapient, and many more, ensuring cutting-edge curriculum. A DST-sponsored Technology Business Incubator has been churning out high-grade ventures appreciated by the Prime Minister of India. GEU also became the first university in Uttarakhand to offer UGC/AICTE-entitled Online Degree Programs in 2022.
